Possible venues:

* A possible venue is the journal ''[http://www.journals.elsevier.com/computers-and-geosciences/ Computers & Geosciences]''.  In initial discussions, Elsevier is keen to supper the publication of such a special issue. - a strong second possibility 
* ''[http://www.journals.elsevier.com/environmental-modelling-and-software/ Environmental Modelling and Software]'' - may be too narrow, would prefer to reach the broader geosciences community.
* ''[http://www.nature.com/ngeo/index.html Nature Geoscience]'' -- Consider submitting to the News and Views section once we have the special issue under way

== Selected Journal: Earth and Space Science ==

The proposal was accepted immediately.  We were requested to broaden the scope of the special issue and accept submissions from any area until January 1, 2016.  The publisher (AGU/Wiley) would like to publicize the special issue broadly to all its geoscience journals and particularly at the 2015 AGU Fall Meeting.
