The catchment isoscape:an experimental-theoretical framework for interpretation of the pathways and transit times of water and solutes for important "states" operating within a catchment. The multiple states operating within a catchment include: vegetation, soil, groundwater, stream, lakes or reservoirs. The catchment “isoscape” for stable isotopes of water  (δ2H and δ18O) and carbon (δ12C and δ13C) observations serves as a convenient framework for understanding and modeling space-time patterns or isosceles over the catchment.
