Jovance – The meeting venue for GLEON 16

The purpose of this workshop is to give participants first hand experience with lake catchment hydrology modeling, as well as lake and reservoir hydrodynamic modeling, while at the same time learning some of the principles underlying the use of stable isotopes to age water and identify its flowpaths. These are the initial steps toward using integrated catchment-lake models to identify sources and flowpaths of both water and carbon through lake and reservoir catchments. This work is conducted within the context of “organic team science”, which is an approach to science that pools knowledge, effort, and resources toward a common set of goals, using online resources. Participants will be invited to collaborate on lake and reservoir catchment modeling projects, with specific science questions being identified at the end of the workshop.

The purpose of this workshop is to give participants first hand experience with lake catchment hydrology modeling, as well as lake and reservoir hydrodynamic modeling, while at the same time learning some of the principles underlying the use of stable isotopes to age water and identify its flowpaths. These are the initial steps toward using integrated catchment-lake models to identify sources and flowpaths of both water and carbon through lake and reservoir catchments. This work is conducted within the context of “organic team science”, which is an approach to science that pools knowledge, effort, and resources toward a common set of goals, using online resources. Participants will be invited to collaborate on lake and reservoir catchment modeling projects, with specific science questions being identified at the end of the workshop.
